FAQ
Why does the cart show a large quantity?
Metercart prices measured goods by adding the right number of base units (e.g. 240 × 0.01 m²) so the total is exact to the cent. Add the Metercart cart block to your cart page to display the measured dimensions instead of the raw quantity — and the dimensions always appear on the order itself either way.
The widget doesn't appear on my product page
Check three things: the calculator status is Active, the product is assigned to it, and the Metercart Calculator block was added to the product template in the theme editor.
Does it work with my theme?
The widget works on any Online Store 2.0 theme that supports app blocks (all modern themes, including every free Shopify theme), and it adopts your theme's button style and corner radius automatically. You can also override colors, labels, and add custom CSS per calculator.
Can a customer order several pieces of the same size?
Yes. The widget has a quantity field — the customer enters their measurement once and chooses how many identical pieces they want; the price, the order quantity, and any whole-unit count (e.g. rolls) all scale accordingly.
Should I hide my theme's price and buy button on measured products?
Yes, both. Metercart prices products by selling many small "base units" (for example 0.01 m² priced at a few cents), so the theme would display a confusing price like $0.05, and its buy button would sell one base unit without measurements. In the theme editor, open your product template and hide the price block and the buy buttons block — the Metercart widget shows your real per-unit rate (e.g. "$5.00 / m") before any input and becomes the only way to purchase. Store with both measured and normal products? Duplicate the product template (e.g. "product.measured"), hide the elements only there, and assign measured products to that template. If someone does order past the calculator, Metercart flags that order on your dashboard ("Review these orders") before you fulfill.
Why does my admin order list say "250 items" for one curtain?
That's the base-unit mechanism: 2.5 m at a 0.01 m base unit is 250 units, which is exactly how the total stays correct to the cent. The order line's properties show the real measurement ("Dimensions: 2.5 m"), and for whole-unit products the "Units" property shows the physical count to pick (e.g. "Units: 3" rolls).
What about inventory tracking?
Quantity-based pricing makes tracked stock counts meaningless for measured products. The app detects this and offers a one-click fix ("continue selling when out of stock") for affected variants.
Which languages does the widget speak?
English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, and Czech — picked automatically from your storefront language, and every text can be overridden per calculator.
